Amevive, a French term meaning soulful, lively soul, or living soul. The emotional part of human nature, the seat of the feelings or sentiments.
Amevive is the soulful creation of Alice Anderson and her partner Topher de Felice, and is based in Santa Barbara County. It started as a fusion of Northern Rhone classics and has grown to include some Spanish varieties. The wines are made minimally without the addition of anything other than sulfur, bottled unfined and unfiltered, and made with the intent to bridge the gap between a Natural wine and a Classic wine palate. The heart and soul of the project is the Ibarra-Young Vineyard in the Los Olivos AVA. Planted in 1971, own-rooted, and farmed organically since the '90s.
100% Marsanne, half destemmed and fermented in small stainless steel tanks for 10 days on skins, and half direct pressed and fermented in neutral french oak. Fully Malolactic, and 18 months in elevage, blended and bottled unfined and unfiltered.
Floral and lifted nose with a warm and welcoming palate. Think of passing a honeysuckle bush on a long springtime walk. This wine likes cold oysters at golden hour at your favorite tranquil spot. This wine is great now, great the next day, and will age for many years.
